GBE 2 Guilty Pleasures

I’ll let you into a little secret. My guilty pleasure is magazines. I love nothing better than sitting down with a cuppa & a good magazine. I buy my dose of magazines each week & also a few monthly ones. I love the glossy pages, the chat pages & the real life stories, I glance over the fashion pages wishing I had hundreds to splash on a new bag or shoes but magazine window shopping is so much cheaper! I enjoy the adverts trying to sell me everything except a new kitchen sink & then I turn to the star signs & the world could fall apart! I also buy the fiction magazines & have a good read of the short stories wishing that I had kicked my bad ass to sit & write the short story that I’ve had notes on for ages. I always stick to the same magazines. Grazia is my favourite weekly; Glamour & Cosmo are my favourite monthlies. I subscribe to Glamour & still get excited when it drops through the letter box each month! This month though I was a bit...

GBE2 Dancing.

Image
Dancing During my time at school (which feels like a long time ago now) I took dance as a subject. I loved it & still love it. But I no longer do it. There were always more girls than boys in the class & in fact at one point we only had 1 boy amongst about 15+ of us girls. It was unfair on him, he however loved it & actually was a good dancer. We would start by doing our stretches then we’d move on to the set pieces we either had to learn & perform in front of the others or we would study techniques of other dancers & then have to choreograph our own piece of dance. It was good fun, interesting & in the end important for our grading & exams. I continued to dance at various times…mainly when I’d had a few drinks…but I have never joined a dance class. I know I would actually feel shy dancing in front of others even after doing it for 3-4 years. I get stage fright badly & this effects the things I would love to do. Dancing being ...

Two Faces

Image
Mirror.   Fearfully I look into the mirror Behind the dust tells my story Do I want to continue looking My father looks back short and stocky My Mothers tallness and skinny physique My Sister with her black hair and sparkling blue eyes All I see is eyes full of hurt Past piercing on my lobes, holes still showing My face shape unbeknown to me The blonde hair, my prized possession,  A kind sweet smile just like my Nan, I realise Genes affect me in every way I keep looking trying to see what face appears As I dim the lights I see two faces Mine now and the face of my past.

GBE 2 Confrontation

Image
Confrontation. I do not like confrontation. I can’t stand it & the only way I deal with awkward situations is to start giggling or to crack a joke. I never used to be like this. I would stand up to anyone anytime; it was part of my job & the job environment I was in. But over the years I’ve lost the need to stand up to people. I will argue my point to people but if it gets too OTT then I will bail out. I have no idea where this bail out has come from or when it developed but I think it stems from getting too tried arguing with members of my family. It got to a point where I thought why the hell am I doing this, there’s no point as it never changes anything anyways. Yet when someone ‘picks’ on a member of my family I will growl like a lioness & protect them. I had to do that a few months back with someone who was rude & disrespectful of a family member & they didn’t understand what they had done wrong & they believed everyone els...

GBE 2 Website review.

Image
Review. Ok so this is going to be a quick review on a new addiction of mine. A website that has grabbed my attention & time....which is not a good thing ha! The Million Pound Drop This gameshow is being shown on TV over here in the UK. It's addictive, amusing & generally a gamble. You start with a virtual million pounds that you have to gamble on questions. You have to leave one drop clear & can spread your money over the other answers. You play against a timer & can not therefore search for the answers on Google! This makes it harder as really you are just guessing the answers unless you really know the correct one. You can place all your money on a answer if you are really sure but that's the gamble.  You can also play along live when it is being aired on TV but that means you don't move until the show is over as it's too addictive to leave your seat or laptop to even pee ha!  Check it out & become a million pound drop add...

Trusting.

Image
Trust. I am finding it harder as I go along in life to trust others. I have always been this person who easily trusts other people but if the s**t on me one too many times then I walk away. But as I’ve grown I’ve noticed I always forgive those who really let my trust down time & time again. I actually put myself through being upset just so I could spare their feelings. It’s not right & it’s pretty stupid of me to allow people to treat me badly. So I kept vowing that if certain people let me down again than that was it. No more. I would know to never trust them again. And guess what, they did exactly as predicted & let me down. So now I have no trust in them. Will I forgive them? Perhaps in time. I’m actually unsure at the moment if I can forgive them. I have this good monkey on one shoulder saying “in time forgive & forget” then the bad monkey keeps reminding me “this isn’t the first time it’s happened.” Really though how can people earn your trust back? I’m not...

Writer's Instinct

Image
Instinct. Wow I’m on a roll with all this writing in one day. Maybe my instinct has told me to kick my own butt & get on with it? My notepad at the moment is full of ideas/sentences/descriptions etc that I have finally made myself put down on paper. Instinct is telling me I need to get a move on with my writing & start producing stories that would even appeal to me if I was the reader. The trouble is at the moment I’m becoming easily distracted. Perhaps it’s the gorgeous weather the UK has finally received…much to the hatred of my now sunburnt skin! Or perhaps too much is on my mind in other areas that the writer in me will assume I’ll pick up where I left of once I actually sit my butt down & write. The problem with that of course is the fact that someone might come up with your light-bulb idea & beat you to the post especially if you don’t spend time writing nearly everyday. The major flaw though is that if you classify yourself as a writer than you must w...

GBE 2 The Bakery

Image
The Bakery Ok so I love cakes! I have a really bad sweet tooth & love the idea of nothing better than eating a freshly baked cake. Yum!! I also find myself having a grumbling tummy as I smell freshly cooked bread. What is it about warm bread that makes your mouth water & your stomach cry out for food? A nice hot roll filled with butter that starts to melt & a filling that just makes you sigh with delight… It was always a Saturday treat for me when I was a child to go to the local bakery & choose a cake. My mum would drag me around the shops to do bits of shopping & then voila the bakery would be the last stop before going home. I always knew this was going to happen but it still didn’t stop me dreading the shopping bit before hand. I would run up to the window & stare in wonder at the range of delicious cakes on offer tempting me with their fresh cream, running jam, soft fruits, cold custard, sticky sugars & wobbly marshmallow. My favourite ca...
