Eggs

Scrambled? Fried? Sunny side up? Boiled? Poached? Omelette? Scotch egg?

Oh how I despise eggs! I have never eaten them & never will eat them. The smell gets to me first, then the texture, then the sight of them looking all kind of rubbery like especially fried & boiled ones. Ewww.

My family loves them though & throughout the years had tried to encourage me to at least taste them…let’s just say they never tried again! I remember my grandparents loving boiled eggs with slices of toast or fried eggs on slices of ham with chips. My mum liked hers boiled or poached & my sister would eat them anyway but especially liked omelettes.

It wasn’t until I started waitressing that they really got to me. People would request omelette upon omelette or fried egg with ham upon fried egg with ham. All I saw were eggs, eggs, eggs. They taunted me as I delivered someone’s dinner that had a wobbly fried egg on top where I’d place it down with a smile on face cursing at the egg inside my mind. Then I realised every time I got home that the eggs had followed me. Its scent had attached itself to me & all I could smell was egg & chips! So not nice.

So eggs are my enemies & I will continue to avoid those wobbling fried ones that ooze out across the plate when you pierce the yolk…*shivers*…

  1. I almost blogged Eggs for my E, but changed it. It will be up later.
And I can only eat scrambled eggs. I have an aversion to eggs of any other type. And I especially can't stand it if they don't cook them all the way through. I don't like to make a scrambled egg for myself, but will eat the omelet cooked by my husband. But it has to be done, done, done or I gag, gag, gag.

    1. Ha why do eggs make us all feel strange or funny when looking or tasting them? I'm glad I'm not the only one who will gag, gag, gag on them :o)

  2. I think I can understand your grief with eggs! I don't like to see them ooze either. It makes me think of liquid baby chick...ewwww.

  4. I love eggs in any way, shape or form--for any meal of the day.

However, I have the same visceral reaction to blood-rare beef as you do to eggs. I worked as a meat wrapper in a grocery store when I was younger and had to quit after the first day. It was simply too horrific! :-o

  6. I only started eating them in my twenties, and they have to be cooked really really well and on a sandwich with cheese and bacon. :-) Greetings from A to Z.

  7. A hoot! I almost did my E post on eggs as I love them so much! I can see how they could gross one out - kind of like mayo does for me. (I wrote about it in D for disgusting things!) Nice to be on the A to Z with you!

  8. Too funny! My family eats eggs, but my husband is grossed out when I dunk my toast in the runny yolk. He also hates the smell of hard boiled eggs.

Isn't it funny the things that turn our stomachs? I can't handle ketchup. Love tomatoes, love sauce. It makes no sense, does it?

  10. I like eggs but don't eat them very often. If I do, I actually like the yellow part runny but if I see any white runniness (I know that isn't a word but let's just go with it), I get turned off immediately and won't eat them. Bleck!
